Through high standards of teaching and learning, students should always feel fully supported, engaged and passionate about their subject and learning.
Gaining business acumen is becoming ever more important in today’s increasingly globalised society. Our Business Studies department aims to give students a firm grounding in the basics of business, preparing them for successful future careers. The syllabus covers a variety of areas, including finance, economics, marketing and ethics, providing insight into the functioning of a modern company.
For students to excel in Business Studies, they are required to draw from all aspects of their learning at The Queen Elizabeth Academy, employing literacy, numeracy and ICT skills throughout their courses.
Outside the classroom – Trips
Business’ students visit Cadburys World as part of their unit 2 studies to investigate how this business has expanded since it was first established in 1879. This trip includes an educational talk and tour of its operations.
Students also visit 19Gales Farm Foods Ltd to support with the controlled assessment task (unit 3). Students have the chance to view the full chain of production from the rearing of the cattle to the sale of the products in their very own farm shops. Students are given a tour by the manager and owner, and have time to ask questions.
