KS4 Revision
We aim to inspire our pupils to appreciate the beauty of Mathematics and use its logic skillfully across all areas of the school curriculum and life.
Welcome to the Maths Department
We aim to inspire our pupils to appreciate the beauty of Mathematics and to apply its logic confidently across all areas of the school curriculum and in everyday life. We are proud of the outcomes our pupils achieve at GCSE, which reflect their hard work, resilience and growing confidence in mathematics throughout their time with us.
Our changes to the KS3 curriculum, alongside a strong focus on mastery, support all pupils in developing a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. Lessons are designed to meet the individual needs of pupils within each class, with learning outcomes and levels of challenge adapted appropriately so that all pupils can access the learning and make meaningful progress. As part of this approach, we incorporate more pictorial and visual representations, such as bar models and manipulatives, to support understanding. These strategies help make abstract concepts more concrete and accessible for all learners and are particularly beneficial for lower-attaining pupils and those with SEND, enabling them to visualise mathematical ideas and develop confidence in their understanding.
What are we most proud of?
At KS3, all pupils are given access to challenge and high expectations, without placing artificial limits on their potential. Our curriculum is designed to support progression for all learners and to ensure that pupils develop the skills, confidence and understanding needed to succeed in mathematics.
Our KS3 scheme allows more pupils to develop the knowledge and confidence needed to access the higher tier GCSE when they begin KS4 in Year 10. As a result, more pupils have the opportunity to achieve strong GCSE outcomes, including grades 7 and above.
