Curriculum Area: Food and Nutrition

Curriculum Leader: Mrs D Johnson

Intent:

Develop a broad and balanced curriculum that enables students to learn, recall and apply knowledge and skills across different contexts, supported by a robust and consistent approach to assessment. This will lead to successful and resilient lifelong learners who can cope in a range of changing contexts.

The biggest change for 2021/2022 to the Food and Nutrition Department:

Developing students’ metacognition by linking Food and Nutrition to other subjects especially Geography and History, while also recognising and expanding their opportunities to increase their social capital.

What are we most proud of?

Students enjoy the subject and show great drive and enthusiasm including in extra curricular sessions. Our policy of making sure that every student has the same opportunities to participate in all food lessons helps to address inequality in academic achievement and social capital.
