Intent

PSHE at TQEA will provide every child with the skills they need to succeed in life, they will be compassionate individuals that understand the importance of diversity and their community. They will strive to be the best they can be and be prepared to step up to the challenge of being successful in a competitive world wide arena.

The biggest change for 2021/2022 to the MFL department:

The biggest changes in PSHE has been implementing a curriculum that allows students to develop their oracy confidence with regular debates on the most important current topics. In addition to this we have added cultural experiences including the use of workshops and outside visitors throughout the year allowing for the curriculum have a diverse and inclusive learning experience.

What are we most proud of?

We are most proud that we are able to provide our students with a curriculum that gives them the skills they need to go into adulthood knowing how to stay safe, healthy, be successful and how to navigate challenges.

Pastoral Care and Guidance

The Queen Elizabeth Academy’s pastoral system is organised on a cohort basis, each year has form groups with a form tutor.  This is overseen by a Head of Year.  Regular assemblies will focus on Life Skills issues.

At the end of the year a special Awards Evening will be held to recognise students’ achievements.

 Answering Difficult Questions

Every effort will be made by all staff to include all pupils in every lesson regardless of ability. Teachers will use a variety of techniques to include all pupils and every effort will be made to adapt each lesson to include pupils with differing learning styles.

Teachers will be careful to ensure that their personal beliefs and attitudes do not influence the teaching of Life Skills.  No teacher or pupil will be expected to answer personal questions.  No one will be forced to take part in a discussion.  The meaning of words will be explained in a sensible and factual manner.
