Curriculum Area: RE

Curriculum Leader: Nic Patel

Intent

The principal aim of RE is to engage, inspire, challenge and encourage students to be critical thinkers. Equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to understand the world around them.  We raise challenging questions within RE and the curriculum is built to support students in exploring the answers to them, reviewing the beliefs of various communities as well as their own. We inspire to develop responsibility and respect within our students, allowing them to enter the wider community prepared.

The biggest change for 2021/2022 to the RE department:

Our Religious Education Curriculum now takes into the account the four pillars of learning that the school aims to establish for every student. The first, personal empowerment, we develop through teaching students how to articulate themselves and their beliefs. Cultural transition is expressed through our knowledge rich schemes of learning. We develop skills of oracy, reasoning and problem solving through debating religious fundamental ideologies. Cultural Capital is through understanding the 6 world religions.

What are we most proud of?

We are most proud of the wide range of articles that we read in class, these help us to think deeper and understand in more detail, the content covered within our lessons.
